Ephedrine hydrochloride should be used with caution in:
People with an overactive thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism)
People with an eye condition known as angle closure glaucoma(increased pressure in the eye causing problems with vision)
People with diabetes
People with kidney problems
It should not be used in:
Children under 1 years old
People with reduced heart blood flow (ischemic heart disease)
People with high blood pressure
People with a condition caused by high levels of thyroid hormones (thyrotoxicosis)
Men with an enlarged prostate gland
People with rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, the Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption (as the tablets contain lactose)
People taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors used to treat depression such as isocarboxazid, phenelzine, moclobemide and rasagiline; or have taken them in the previous 2 weeks.
